From the Divan of Hafez · 7 couplets
...
Show a coquetry and break the market of sorcery —
with a glance, break the credit and repute of the Samaritan.
Give the head and turban of a world to the wind — that is,
break the cap-corner in the fashion of lordship.
Tell the tresses: Set aside the manner of heart-ravishing —
tell the glance: Break the heart of the tyrant.
Come out and take the ball of beauty from everyone —
give the houris their due and break the credit of the fairy.
With those gazelle-eyed ones, seize the lion of the sun —
with those doubled brows, break the bow of Jupiter.
When the tresses of the hyacinth become fragrant from the wind's breath,
break their value with the tip of your ambergris tresses.
When the nightingale sells its eloquence, O Hafez,
break its value by speaking in pearls.
