From the Divan of Hafez · 5 couplets
...
When my beloved takes the cup in hand,
the market of all idols suffers a crash.
Everyone who saw her eye said:
Where is a morals-officer to arrest this drunkard?
I have fallen in the sea like a fish,
waiting for the beloved to catch me on her hook.
I have fallen at her feet in supplication —
is it possible that she will take my hand?
Blessed is the heart that, like Hafez,
takes a cup from the wine of the Primordial Covenant.
